10 Reasons to Visit Australia This Summer

If you're not sure where you want to go on your next big trip, think about bumping Australia close to the top of your list. Whether you're traveling alone or traveling with a group, you'll be able to find plenty of things you'll enjoy doing. The country is huge, and it never runs out of things to offer.

1. The Vast Nature

Australian's are great about preserving their nature. Since many of the plants and animals native to Australia cannot be found anywhere else in the world, you're going to find a lot of sanctuaries around the country. If you're the kind that likes to camp, you've never camped in places like these. Pitch a tent somewhere new and unfamiliar.

2. All of the Islands

Most people who want to go on an island getaway usually don't consider Australia to be the best place to do it. Don't forget that Australia has many islands, and each one of them is different. Many P&O Australia cruises leave from Brisbane, and they'll take you to places like Hamilton Island, Fraser Island, and the Whitsundays.

3. Everything You Can Eat

Australians are foodies at heart. In fact, there's no shortage of summer food festivals in the major cities. Sydney and Melbourne are hotspots for cuisines, and in a food festival setting, you can try a little bit of everything. Since you'll be walking around and mingling while you eat, you'll be putting all of that energy to good use.

4. Fun in the Sun

Australia is bordered only by ocean meaning you'll never need to look long to find a beach. Most major beaches have tons to do besides swimming, lounging, and surfing. It's easy to go parasailing or scuba diving in just about every big city near the beach. Challenge yourself to try something exciting, or learn a new aquatic sport.

5. Museums and Art

There are art museums and galleries in every Australian state and territory. A few larger museums exist to exhibit the classic works of world famous painters throughout history, but there are also several galleries that cater to local artists and up-and-comers. If you're an aspiring artist, you'll easily be able to get some inspiration and make a few friends and possible industry contacts.

6. Wine and Coffee

Wine people and coffee people are both very devoted to the things they love most. There's plenty for both in Australia. Since the country is isolated, they produce a lot of their own boutique wines and coffees. Almost every region has something special, and the local growers and producers are eager to show you what it is they do.

7. Loveable Animals

Pet a kangaroo. Hug a koala. Take pictures of everything. A lot of zoos and wildlife sanctuaries in Australia hand raise their animals, which keeps them tame and used to human contact. Many of these places will let you give these animals a little love and attention, and where else in the world will you be able to do that?

8. Culture and History

Australia values its native culture and aboriginal peoples. You'll be able to find a lot of exhibitions relating to aboriginal arts, history, and artefacts. In addition to native culture and history, you'll be able to explore a lot of Australia's more recent past. Since the country was originally a destination for prisoners, you'll be able to explore a lot of the historic jails that are still standing today.

9. Bustling Nightlife

Areas of Sydney like Bondi Beach and resort destinations on the Whitsunday islands are busy spots for nightlife. If you like to unwind after a long day at a club or a bar, perhaps snacking on upscale bites and listening to some live music, you'll feel right at home.

10. Great Exercise

If you plan to overindulge, you'll be able to burn off some of those calories on one of Australia's many hiking trails. You can turn to nature and hike in the wilderness, or walk in the big cities. There are walking paths over the Harbour Bridge that offer a great view of Sydney and the bay.

If you're going to be in Australia for a while, there's no reason you can't do it all. Anything you can't work into your itinerary this trip can be saved for next trip - and you'll definitely want to go back.
